Advertisers Filter Your Internet

Just in case you haven't seen this yet:

Are you cool with this? If so, why? If not, why not (and what should we do)?

Maybe as this guy suggests?

At first I thought what's wrong with that until I realized it would only serve to make one very vanilla. I sense this has happened to me as I read a lot of catholic reading. I'm finding less of the things that would frighten me posted by the radical catholic hating posters. I can see it especially in Netflix and amazon as my Christian tastes are being offered up to me as suggestions. I like the option to choose as to what filters I want on my searches. I do like, the idea of privacy and hate thinking that some big brother knows what part of the house I'm In if I carry the cell phone around like I do. Your blog posts are diverse, I like that. Keep up the good work. What is that animal that is your picture? It sort of makes me think of Satan when I look at it. At first I was afraid to follow your bible lead. Great site, thanks for the heads up. Please edit out the comments about your picture if you post this.

sherrybella,
If you don't see the radically anti-catholic posters, you cannot respond to them in love. We're not offered a life without suffering, but one where we take up our crosses daily and follow our God to Golgotha. Ideally, it is also one in which we do good because that is how God's grace is most often made manifest.

Part of why I mention the bubbling and filtering is so you can choose to avoid it. You deserve to know, and to choose. This is why duckduckgo.com (which does neither) is now my primary search engine, and Google is for when I need absurd levels of command-line precision in my searches.

Sorry, the only editing of comments permitted by Blogger is either pass it along, or trash it. As for the creature, he is a t'skrang, and my alter ego on the net. Go check out the old website for more information on him. One advantage of being Arkanabar instead of using my real name is that Arkanabar is, as far as I can tell, unique on the web, whereas my given name is not.

Well, I apologize for saying your pic looked like Satan. You look like a red lizard. I should have known :-)). Well, I agree with you about reaching out to people before I'm properly armed with the knowledge. Thank you for your advice. I will check out the duckduck.
